R&R’s Tips -Best Social Media Apps when Travelling

Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Aloha, so many ways to say 'Hi'!

Welcome to Globe-Trotters, we're Rebecca & Rhys and we love to travel! We met in 2013, married in 2014 and during those years, and to present day, we've taken every opportunity possible to see the world. Although we both had a travel passion before we met, Globe-Trotters is here because we want to share with you 'our journey', just the 2 of us. We also aim to bring you tips, fashion and gadget info and anything else 'travel' we feel might be of use.

We hope you love the site, but if you have any questions, if there's anything you'd like us to feature or you simply want to get in touch, please don't hesitate to do so because we'd love to hear from you.

Happy Travelling, Love Rebecca & Rhys xx

R&R’s Tips -Best Social Media Apps when Travelling

Social Media AppsOk, so you’re on holiday, you’re there to relax, explore, discover new things and enjoy yourself, so why do so many people insist on spending their time taking selfies and posting them on social media for those back home?

Firstly, there’s nothing more annoying that seeing your timeline rammed with someone else’s holiday photos day in day out but secondly, how can you really be enjoying your holiday when you’re stuck to you’re phone trying desperately to tell everyone you’re ‘having a great time’.

If you really must use social media on holiday then use it to assist you in seeing and exploring more of where you are? If you really must post your activities to social media, try and limit it to 1 or 2, nobody likes a narcissistic holiday bore!

Instagram – If you want to keep track of your trip, use instagram to geotag your photos. They can make a great souvenir when you return and you can get them printed in their instagram format.

Foursquare – a brilliant app to find out where is popular locally and see the latest reviews plus you can also find great deals and promotions from businesses on this app.

Flickr – To avoid oversharing, you can store your photos privately on Flickr and for smartphones, you can select auto-upload so you don’t have to do it manually.

Twitter – the perfect form of social media should you need to get in touch with a company’s customer services department whether it be to complain or make an enquiry.

These are the apps we recommend specifically related to social media, check out our gadget section for more information about great apps for travel.
